- About me
Dr. Giulio Ruffini (Barcelona, 1966) is Starlab’s CEO and CTO since 2000. I am physicist at heart, but my interests spill over into other fields, including information theory, machine learning and neuroscience. I have been involved and led several ESA and EU projects on technology development in earth observation (with a focus on gnss-r) and neuroscience applications (mostly related to the interaction of Maxwell's equations with the wet brain). I graduated from UC Berkeley in Mathematics and Physics and obtained a Ph.D. in Physics from UC Davis/Los Alamos in 1995. More specifially, I am intersted in Presence, Neuroscience and information theory. Fundamental Physics; Radar applications. Recent key projects are Oceanpal, Peach, Sensation and Hive. Books I like are Permutation City (Egan), Metamathematics (Chaitin) and The Trouble with Physics (Smolin). Information theory is definitely a common thread in my research interests, from physics to engineering to neuroscience. Google "Kolmogorov Manifesto" to learn more (http://arxiv.org/abs/0704.1147).
